The birthdate is based on Lady Anne Blunt [J&C, 3.11.1891] seeing Muniet El Nefous with a new colt by Mes'aud, as Koheilan El Mossen was called. She says "at present chestnut in colour but only 12 days old." Later, Lady Anne [J&C, 11.27.1909, pag 340-341] says "... and I saw the chestnut Hamdani Simri sire as a colt at Ahmed Bey Sennari's. His dam and sire were the bay Hamdanieh Simrieh (Muniet el Nefus) and the grey Kehilan Mesenneh, well known horses brought by E... from the desert to Sennari." The color is confirmed in an early handwritten herd book of Prince Mohamed Aly.
