Comment:
Abdul Aziz 1863 – grey desertbred stallion who stood first at Babolna and then at Mezohegyes in the latter part of the 19th Century. He was a particularly influential sire in what became the Shagya Arabian breed. In 1869 ABDUL AZIZ was presented by Constantinople (Turkey) Ottoman Sultan Abdul Aziz to a member of the entourage of Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph when the Emperor visited Constantinople on his way to the opening of the Suez Canal. The stallion Abdul Aziz proved to be of the highest excellence as a sire and of the ultimate in Arabian type. He had the nobility of the Arab, faultless gaits and enormous weight carrying capacity.
